99% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sémillon
Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"Sourced from special parcels of fruit from our Omaka Valley and Central Wairau vineyards, this stylish Sauvignon Blanc is highly textured yet vibrant and elegant. The wine is made using hand harvested fruit that is whole bunch pressed, fermented using wild yeast and includes a small proportion that has been fermented and aged in French oak. All which contribute to the character of this truly distinctive Sauvignon Blanc. Subtle on the nose with warm notes of ripe yellow stone-fruit, soft passion fruit and a chalky-mineral complexity. The palate is layered and finely-textured, with ripe gooseberry, tropical and citrus notes, framed by a mouth-watering acidity, which creates a persistent finish."
91/100 Joe Czerwinski (2018 Vintage)
"Bottled just three weeks before my visit, the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc seemed pretty recovered, offering up ripe nectarine and cut-grass notes on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, it's plump and silky on the palate, showcasing round fig and melon notes before tailing off just a bit abruptly on the finish. Fifteen percent of the blend went into puncheons and 5% is Sémillon."

4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"This is one of the region's most sophisticated, subtle and satisfying Sauvignons. It's also one of the most important, given its widespread international distribution and certified BioGro status. The grapes are grown in the original estate vineyard near Renwick, and in the company's younger vineyards, especially Raupo Creek, on an elevated slope in the Omaka Valley. The wine (which includes 5 to 9 per cent Sémillon) is mostly fermented in tanks with indigenous yeasts, but 15 to 20 per cent of the blend is fermented and lees-aged in seasoned French oak casks. The refined, subtle 2016 vintage is weighty and sweet-fruited, with deep, ripely herbaceous flavours, showing good complexity, and a dry, finely textured finish. Drink now or cellar."
92/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, December 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Softer style, with richness of flavour and almost creamy to taste. There’s gooseberries, lime, subtle whiff of tomato bush and thistle, but it’s more about fruit than shrubbery. Chalky feel, juicy fruit, and a lime and snow pea infused finish of good length. Altogether good. Composed and stylish."
