Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"Divine ruby red in colour with intense cherry and berry aromas. Rich on the palate with dark cherry, subtle floral and herbaceous notes. Excellent depth, fine tannins and a long vibrant finish."
93/100 Gourmet Traveller Magazine, NZ Pinot Noir Tasting, June 2021 (2018 Vintage)
"2018 Quartz Reef Bendigo Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir was one of Mathews’ top wines. “Love the skeletal structure of this wine,” she began. “The fine-boned tannins really drive the palate, supported by slinky red berries, pot-pourri and brown button mushrooms. Effortlessly elegant.” The palate was quite fine, but redcurrant and red cherry flavours built intensity, expanding towards the finish."
93/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, May 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"Reasonably light in colour but certainly not lacking power, with dark cherry, violet, blackcurrant and spicy oak flavours supported by bright acidity and peppery tannins. A youthful wine that would benefit from bottle age."
92+/100 Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, February 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"The 2018 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is a terrific effort, marrying attractive floral and tea-like aromas with bright raspberry and cherry fruit. It’s medium to full-bodied but seems lighter and fresher because the flesh is wrapped within a sleeve of crisp acids, containing and buttressing it, focusing it into a prolonged finish. Despite the warm vintage, this is impeccably balanced, with the ability to age well for a decade."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"Certified biodynamic, the refined, youthful 2017 vintage was estate-grown at Bendigo, hand-picked and matured in French oak barriques (28 per cent new). Deeply coloured, it is invitingly perfumed, with strong, ripe fruit flavours, vibrant and supple, excellent complexity, and a long ,finely poised finish. Already drinking well, it should be at its best from 2021 onwards."
96/100 Cameron Douglas MS, June 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Complex, youthful core of fruit and wood spices. Layers of dried herb and exotic tea. Dry and equally complex on the palate with flavours that mirror the nose plus many more that emerge and evolve as the wine opens up in the glass. Firm youthful tannins and acidity to match, a core of fruit and minerality suggesting crushed rocks. Dried herb, layers of wood spice, lengthy finish, youthful and dry. Best from 2022 through 2032."
94/100 Jamie Goode, February 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Fresh, supple and rounded with sweet red cherry and raspberry fruit. Has nice polish and texture but also good structure and acidity. Ripe, expressive, elegant and grown up."
94/100 James Suckling, October 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"This is a very good pinot, delivering a mix of powerful fruit and a focused structure. Violets and ripe red cherries sit amid gently stony, flinty nuances, leading to a palate that has a succulent, lithe and juicy core of vibrant cherries and chalky tannins. Great pinot."
Rated: Excellent, Mark Henderson, Otago Daily Times, May 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Bright and fresh nose, subtlety, a sweet accent to the perfume, underlying savoury, raspberry and spice notes, adding thyme and rosemary with time. Sweeter fruit initially in the red fruit/raspberry spectrum with a fine tannic backbone, this swells in the glass, developing a fleshiness and delightful flow through the palate. Nice balance here and excellent potential."
