Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"This fine wine is an appealing blend of the classic Bordeaux varieties, Merlot (55%), Malbec (45%). Grapes were grown in the highly acclaimed Gimblett Gravels wine growing region, and were harvested in optimum condition in mid-April at 21.3 Brix average.

Immediately warm and appetising, this deliciously harmonious blend of two classical Bordeaux varieties showcases black berry fruit complemented with spicy leather, musky violets and liquorice hints. An excellent choice with lamb or pork dishes. Ready for immediate enjoyment or to reward cellaring."

4 Stars & 17.5/20 Raymond Chan, March 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on the edge. This has a soft and gentle nose with harmoniously melded aromas of ripe, dark-red plum fruit with a fine core of black-berried fruits with suggestions of dark herbs and liquorice. Savoury earth and cedary oak emerge with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has restrained flavours of savoury dark-red plums and berry fruits along with spice elements and cedary oak. The palate balances fruit richness with fine, grainy tannin structure and grip, the acidity well-integrated and balanced. The wine has a solid presence and carries positively to a lingering finish of savoury dark plums, earth and cedar. This is a moderately fulsome, savoury red fruited Merlot/Malbec blend with herb, earth and cedary oak layers on a grainy, textured palate with good presence. Match with casseroles and slow-cooked game meat over the next 5+ years. A blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Malbec from the Gimblett Gravels, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 12 days on skins post ferment and aged 13 months in 27% new oak, 70% French and 30% American."
