Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"The first in a line of early 20th century battleships bestowed with the motto “fear god and dreadnought” and embodying a supreme combination of speed and power, Dreadnought denotes our steepest and most breathtaking hillside Syrah vineyards.

Dreadnought 2015 reflects the growing season with very small crops of intensely flavoured fruit in the cherry/ tayberry spectrum with liquorice characters from stem influence. The fruit and stem tannins are fine grained and ripe adding freshness and length to the wine, with the overall structure suggesting classical Northern Rhone Syrah. Stylish and finely balanced this wine is beautiful now and will benefit from ‘splashy’ decanting prior to drinking upon release."

5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"This is staggeringly rich and complex on the nose showing dark fruit, chocolate tart, black olive, cedar and truffle characters, followed by a concentrated palate that is both striking and refined. The wine offers compelling fruit power and purity, brilliantly supported by silky texture and opulent mouthfeel. At its best: now to 2025."

5 Stars & 95/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review (2015 Vintage)
"Elegant, powerful and quite dense syrah, Bright berry, plum, red rose, black pepper and spicy oak are the dominant flavours in this complex and appealing wine. Sweet fruit flavours are restrained by ripe tannins. Accessible now but with obvious potential. Drink 2017 to 2023."

5 Stars & 19.0+/20 Raymond Chan, May 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"Very dark, deep black-red colour, near impenetrable, a little lighter on the edge with slight purple hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is softly full and gently voluminous with aromas of ripe blackberry fruit with notes of dark raspberries, black pepper, liquorice and Asian spices, unfolding violet florals with hints of minerals, earth and tar. The aromatics grow in richness and detail with aeration. Full-bodied, the palate has rich and well-packed, concentrated flavours of ripe blackberries and dark raspberries, along with an amalgam of black plums, black pepper, violet florals and earth. The fruit is bold and powerful and the flavours mouthfilling. The fruit is supported by fine, grainy tannin extraction and grip, with balanced, soft acidity. The flavours form a fulsome core and the wine carries to a full, long and solid finish. This is a rich, well-concentrated, mouthfilling Syrah with ripe and luscious blackberry and plum fruit along with floral, black pepper, spice and complexing earthy notes on a well-structured palate. Match with Middle Eastern lamb dishes over the next 9-10+ years. Hand-picked fruit from hillside sites including the ’20 Tonner’ and ‘Niko Face’ vineyards, fermented, the fruit from the ‘Asylum’ site with 100% whole bunches, giving an overall whole cluster amount of 15%, to 14.3% alc., the wine aged 20 months in 35% new French oak puncheons."
