Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Aromas of pears with hints of hazelnuts and cinnamon spice. On the medium-bodied palate, flavours of white peach and apricot add a fleshy mouthfeel to the crispness of pear. There is a sense of opulence and breadth, which will develop further with time, at this point held in check by a gentle squeeze of citrus and phenolic texture.
Grown in our organically certified vineyards located on an elevated inland terrace of the Waimea Plains beneath the foothills of the Richmond Ranges. Tasman Bay to the north provides a cooling sea breeze over the warmest months of summer. This ancient alluvial terrace of clay-rich loam and river stones over deep, free draining gravels is well suited to the growing of fragrant, light and medium-bodied white wines.
Whole bunch pressed and briefly settled prior to transferring to seasoned 228 and 500L litre barrels for fermentation both wild and inoculated. Nine months maturation on gross yeast lees with full MLF completed during this period Blended mid-December 2022, held in tank for a further 2 months and bottled with course filtration in February 2023."
Reviews for the 2021 vintage below…
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2021 Vintage)
"From New Zealand’s leading, long-term Pinot Blanc producer, this is typically a very classy wine. Hand-picked from mature vines on the south-east corner of the Waimea Plains, the 2021 vintage was fermented and matured on its yeast lees in old oak barrels. Light lemon/green, it is mouthfilling and fleshy, with rich, pure stonefruit flavours, and excellent depth and drive. Best drinking mid-2023+. Certified organic."
