Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"Always deep coloured, School House 2016 has a gorgeous perfume and creamy fruit delivery. Visually beautiful, it is a vineyard that consistently performs.

Deeply coloured, with alluring dark fruit, anise, and mocha aromatics. The palate is sweetly layered, with delicate generosity on the front giving way to an intensely structured mid. Firm, yet suavely sculpted back tannins lead the long, sustained finish."

5 Stars & 95/100 Bob Campbell MW, February 2018 (2016 Vintage)
"Concentrated and reasonably creamy pinot noir with strong dark fruit, plum, berry and subtle floral flavours against a background of smoky oak. A ripe, tight wine with obvious cellaring potential. Drink 2018 to 2025."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"This consistently classy red is estate-grown in the late-ripening School House Vineyard, at Bendigo, an extremely elevated site (up to 420 metres above sea level). The 2016 vintage was hand-picked and matured for 11 months in French oak casks (28 per cent new). Deeply coloured, it is fragrant, rich and vibrantly fruity, with deep, ripe plum and spice flavours, a hint of liquorice, and savoury, nutty notes adding complexity. Highly concentrated, with a lasting finish, it' s already delicious, but well worth cellaring to at least mid-2019."

94/100 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2016 Vintage)
"From a steep, high-elevation site in Bendigo, the 2016 School House Pinot Noir is less perfumed than the China Terrace bottling, but it still has some violet and tea aromas. The fruit is rich and dark, reminiscent of black cherries and blueberries, with an underpinning of savory earth. Give this medium to full-bodied, firmly structured wine a couple of years in the cellar."

93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Quite a complex bouquet with a mix of dark red cherry, red apple skin and spiced plum alongside a savoury, dried herb and mushroom quality; moderate oak influences with a mix of darker brown spices and fresh wood. On the palate – youthful, savoury and firm then flavours of dark cherry and berries return; youthful firm tannins and plenty of crisp acidity. Fairly lengthy finish; well made in a drink now or cellar style style. Best from late 2018 through 2026."

5 Stars & 19.5-/20 Raymond Chan, October 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Full, dark, ruby-red colour with good depth and slight purple hues, youthful in appearance. This has a refined, tightly bound and concentrated core of aromatic dark-red cherry fruit lifted by dark-red and violet florals, entwined with subtle layers of dark herbs, with nuances of whole bunch stalk perfumes and spicy oak notes. The nose is beautifully refined and elegant in expression. Medium-full bodied, the palate has sweetly rich and lusciously ripe, fragrant and aromatic dark cherry and berry fruit along with violet florals. The fruit is complexed by subtle dark herb and whole bunch notes and some lifted, spicy oak. The tannin extraction is very fine, lending a velvety texture. The wine flows along a fine line to a sustained, aromatic finish. This is a beautifully aromatic Pinot Noir with red cherry and floral fruit with complex herb and whole bunch nuances, and fine, powdery tannin extraction. Serve with wild duck and pork dishes over the next 7-10+ years. Hand-picked fruit, clones 114, 115, 5, 6,667 and 777 from the 420 m ‘School House’ site, Bendigo, fermented with on average 50% whole bunches to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 28% new French oak."

92/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, June 2018 (2016 Vintage)
"Smoky, a bit reductive, capsicum, red fruits. Subdued, oranges, red fruits, sappy and low key in the fruit department, more into non-fruit flavours, through there’s a solid enough core. Cool acidity, savoury, sappy, spicy finish."
