Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"We couldn't not have a play with this insane old bush-vine Grenache from the sands of Blewitt Springs. Raspberry and redcurrant on the nose and in the mouth it has those subtle and silky tannins we all love in Grenache. A treasure.
Our only foray into another region but its just across the border…half the wine is from a ferment with 20% whole cluster maceration for 28 days, the second half of the wine is 100% whole cluster, fermented for three months. After pressing both components spent eight months in neutral French oak barriques and terracotta eggs."
95/100 Campbell Mattinson, James Halliday's Wine Companion (2022 Vintage)
"Blewitt Springs grenache grown on 82-year-old vines; 20% whole bunches in the ferment, then matured in a combination of used French oak and terracotta eggs. Reserved on the nose but the palate is a powerhouse. This is the bright, beautiful face of modern Australian grenache. Red-cherried fruit, tips of red licorice, fragrant herbs and a combination of saltbush, sandalwood and purple flowers. The tannin goes on and on, and the fruit rides with it."
90/100 Mike Bennie, The Wine Front (2022 Vintage)
"Yummy stuff but a fuller and plusher expression. More neck oil than cerebral. Warm, forest berry compote, sweet spices and soft tannin is the go. Feels rich and round, a little formless but enjoyable in its melange of ripe fruit and spice. Breathy-warm finish not for me but for some a welcome fullness. Monochromatic but beautifully made. Blood orange lift helps elevate the wine. If generosity and grenache is your game, then this works a treat."
