Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Lying at the convergence between 3 distinct geological ages, Clos Henri has one of the most distinctive soil morphologies in the Marlborough Valley. Paying homage to these unique terroirs and revealing the true nature of these wines is the ultimate objective of the Bourgeois Family. Our Single Vineyard cuvées tell the story of the simplicity and elegance offered by the confluence of glacial and windswept terroirs.
Named for the Otiran Glaciation period that was instrumental in forging this unique terroir, this Sauvignon Blanc has a fresh acid backbone and delicate salinity lead to a mouth-watering mineral finish.
An enticing bouquet of mineral and preserved citrus peel, apple and apricot, peach and herbs. There’s a delicate toasty layer from mineral and initial bottle development. On the palate – silky textured, elegant, poised and dry. Flavours of citrus, stone and tree fruits reflect the nose supported by acidity and a touch of spice, wood and minerality. Lengthy and intriguing finish, complex and well made. Best drinking from today and through 2025+."
Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, March 2023 (2021 Vintage)
"A really lovely bouquet of mineral and freshness, an old world feel with a smoky stone quality and white flowers. Smells of place with a sea salt quality. Saline, dry, (85% SS, 15% in older barrel), there’s grapefruit and lemon, white stone fruits – all linear in presentation. Dry, saline, mineral. A delicious wine. Great balance and length. Even better as the wine warms. Med+ complexity."

"Another expression that has plenty of old world style. Intensely aromatic, with grapefruit, pink peppercorn, passionfruit, jalapeno, sweetcorn, and lemon blossom. There is a stony minerality running through the core, with a tart, saline acidity giving superb drive throughout. I love how the palate broadens out at the back, with a calming polish to the silky texture that develops. The finish is full and generous."
