It is full of exotic flavours and super rich fruit intricately wrapped in a deliciously creamy texture. Complexity from wild yeast fermentation and extended aging in older barrels complete the picture. Multi dimensional and long lasting, this release of Greywacke Wild Sauvignon Blanc rightfully deserves to sit alongside the other great proponents of this style: Te Koko and Section 94.

"This is a leading example of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from well outside the mainstream. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in mostly old French oak barriques (8 per cent new), and wood-matured for a year, the 2015 vintage is an arresting wine, revealing lovely delicacy and depth. Bright, light lemon/green, it has a fragrant, complex, ripely scented bouquet. Full-bodied, it is very rich, vibrant and harmonious, with sweet-fruit delights, a very subtle seasoning of oak, and a tightly structured, dry, very persistent finish. Already delicious, it should be at its best 2018+."

"Restrained and poised, this is an outstanding rendition of Greywacke's now famous Wild Sauvignon. The delicately fragrant bouquet shows dried herb, clove, almond and nectarine characters with subtle lime zest lift. The palate is concentrated and impressively weighted, yet elegant and fine, delivering excellent focus and linear mouthfeel. The wine offers pristine fruit characters with seductive savoury undertones, finishing superbly long and mouth-watering. At its best: 2018 to 2027."

"Very pale straw, near colourless. The nose is fresh and youthful with near exuberant and rich green stonefruit aromas of nectarines and greengages with notes of ripe capsicums and fresh herbs, unfolding a hint of smoke and nuttiness. The aromatics grow in fullness and depth with aeration. Dry to taste, very vibrantly sweet and rich in fruit, with juicy greengage, nectarine and green stonefruits. Complex detail emerges, nuts and oak? But quite subtle, with hints of creaminess. This has a tight, concentrated core and refined phenolic line. So youthful, but individual and with complexing nuances already. Fully barrel-fermented, with 7% new oak, minimal lees work, but two-thirds MLF."
