This famous label is right on top form with the 2013. Power and elegance. Much finer yet so much more powerful than the Cigar with super-fine tannins and balance. It has great mouthfeel, super suave with long, long length.

"Full depth with a red crimson hue. The bouquet is of medium to full intensity with bright berry and plum fruits with a seaspray tang that is typical of Yalumba The Menzies. The palate is full bodied and rich, opening with plush red fruits yielding a textured mid-palate and yielding to a lengthy finish. Enjoy with a pomegranate and fennel glazed rack of Limestone Coast lamb."

"It’s a firm, formidable, structured, detailed wine of brooding intensity and concentration, set to medium bodied, dusted with earth, strewn with crushed eucalyptus, drenched in decadent cassis. It’s pulses through the palate with brooding dark fruit intensity, rippling with herbal, chewy tannins that rope and weave through the wine to its very long puckering finish. There’s a softness too, wine pools in the palate and gets tugged away. Lovely wine, even though its been an epoch for me."

"​This is a magnificently composed red from an excellent vintage. Classic cabernet aromas of cassis, plum and dried herb are beautifully complemented by subtle influence of cedar and spice notes. Tannins are fine and grainy, and in abundance, providing a sturdy frame to this delectable wine. At its best: 2020 to 2030."

"The year 2013 was a warm one, but this wine displays leafy, eucalypt high notes, with fragrant mulberry fruit underneath; cedary oak holds it all together. "​Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with some garnet on the edge. The nose is very concentrated and intense with rich, ripe aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries and cassis, a little mint and fragrant, lifted herbs, a touch of eucalypt, unfolding interwoven layers of fruit and pencilly oak. The palate is sweetly rich and luscious, the fruit melded with ripe, substantial tannin structure, revealing layers of blackberries, blackcurrants, cassis liqueur and mint, revealing nuances of eucalypt and cedary, pencilly oak. The fruit is supported by strong, ripe, fine tannin extraction and ripe acidity that carries the wine to a sweet and long finish. 10-15+ years. Fruit from ‘The Menzies’ vineyard Coonawarra, vines 35 y.o., fermented to 14.1% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 34% new French hogsheads and barriques, and 2% new Hungarian oak hogsheads. A vineyard selection, undergoing very vigorous selection to produce a reduced quantity of wine, around 8.000 cases."
