Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"Rich floral and white honey aromas dominate the nose of this Pinot Gris. These flavours carry through onto the palate where oily and chalky characters play off each other adding texture and interest to the wine. As an aperitif try with wedges of rock melon wrapped in prosciutto, or as the main it is a cinch with white meats and lightly spiced foods."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit (2016 Vintage)
"The wine is instantly appealing on the nose showing poached pear, ripe stone fruit, rockmelon and floral characters, which lead to a fruit-expressive palate that is ripe and rounded, and finishes beautifully long and silky. It is pristine and inviting, and delectable to the finish. At its best: now to 2018."
4 Stars & 18.0-/20 Raymond Chan, December 2016 (2016 Vintage)
"Bright, even straw-yellow colour with lemon green hues. This has a finely proportioned nose with deep and well-packed aromas of white and yellow stonefruits entwined with a harmonious amalgam of herbs, nuts and minerals, unfolding delicate floral nuances with aeration. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate features vibrantly bright and lively, rich flavours of white and yellow stonefruits with nuances of florals and honeysuckle, revealing mineral elements The mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh acidity and the fruit grows to form a positively concentrated core with good weight and presence. The wine follows a light, phenolic-textured line with underlying acid drive leading to a dry, stonefruited finish. This is a bright and lively, dryish Pinot Gris with rich stonefruit flavours on a refreshing palate with good line and presence. Match with poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 3+ years. Pinot Gris fruit given skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 10.7 g/L RS, the wine aged several months on fine lees."
Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"In top seasons, this is one of the country's best-value Pinot Gris. The 2016 vintage, estate-grown on the Waimea Plains, is mouthfilling, with very good depth of ripe, peachy, slightly spicy flavours, a gentle splash of sweetness (10.7 grams/litre of residual sugar), moderate acidity, and lots of drink-young charm."
