Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
Sourced from our exciting new Brookby Hill vineyard in the Omaka Valley, this vintage shows a new direction for Two Rivers Pinot Gris. Handpicked at sunrise to retain freshness, fruit purity and varietal character, the grapes were then gently pressed. 90% was fermented at very cool temperatures in stainless steel, while 10% went through wild fermentation in seasoned French oak barriques. The wine was kept on fine lees for 4 months to add mouthfeel and complexity.

A very aromatic style of Pinot Gris, revealing fresh pear, crystallised ginger and Jasmine aromas. Textured and dry in style, the wine has zingy lime, orange and marmalade flavours, mingled with mineral notes and hints of raw honeycomb. This Pinot Gris is well balanced, softly textured, and has great mouthfeel and persistence of flavour."
94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2016 (2016 Vintage)
"Partially fermented in barrel (10%) and matured on lees for four months, this is both stylish and delectable. Elegant aromas of white nectarine, poached pear, floral and subtle spice lead to a concentrated palate that is juicy and bright with excellent fruit purity. The wine is textural and engaging, and finishes long and silky. A fabulous dry rendition. At its best: now to 2020."
4 Stars & 18.0+/20 Raymond Chan, October 2016 (2016 Vintage)
"Bright straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is softly fresh with delicate aromas of white and yellow stonefruits along with subtle floral notes entwined with minerally lees, the aromatics building in complexing detail with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is taut and tightly bound with intense flavours of white and yellow stonefruits along with suggestions of honeysuckle and flowers, intermixed with mineral notes. The fruit is gently rich and lush, and is balanced by fine-grained phenolic textures and brisk, thirst-quenching acidity providing a positive and energetic line. The wine carries to a long, lingering, tightly contained, textural finish of stonefruits and florals. This is a tight, youthfully taut, dry Pinot Gris with intense stonefruit flavours and floral and honied detail on a fine-textured, brisk palate. Match with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘Brookby Hill’ vineyard, Omaka, vines 16.y.o., hand-picked and 90% cool-fermented in stainless-steel with 10% indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned French oak barriques to 13.0% alc. and 4.1 g/L RS, the wine aged 4 months on lees. 550 cases made."
