Marsanne is one of the world's rarest grape varieties originating in the Northern Rhone & Hermitage regions of France. Tahbilk has the world’s largest single holding of Marsanne – and the vines (dating back to 1927) are among the oldest in the world. When young the nose and palate exhibit intense aromas and flavours of lemon, peach and tropical fruits with a dry mineral raciness whilst with bottle age these will complex and develop into the familiar honeysuckle fragrance and character traditionally associated with Marsanne.
95/100 James Halliday's Wine Companion (2015 Vintage)
“The honeysuckle aroma of this marsanne bursts out of the glass when swirled, perhaps a hint of jasmine or field flowers too. The palate lives up to the promise and then some: the variety is often sotto voce when young, but here it is exuberant, aided by chalky acidity.”
93/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, November 2015 (2015 Vintage)
"Surely, along with staples such as Jim Barry Watervale Riesling, Pewsey Vale Riesling, Mount Pleasant Elizabeth Semillon, Pikes Riesling etc. one of the best value cellaring whites in the country. This is a very strong release. It delivers flavour, almost rich fruit like honeydew melon and green banana, sweet lemon and a jasmine perfume. Well rounded, with balanced acidity and a lovely chalky texture, it delivers pleasure with personality from sniff to swallow. Can be enjoyed now, or later."
