5 Stars & 96/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review (2011 Vintage)
"Delicious riesling in a moderately sweet style. Concentrated ripe tree fruit flavours contrast with tangy citrus characters to give the wine an exquisite tension and incredibly lengthy finish. Bottle age has helped to integrate flavours and develop complexity but the wine remains perfectly fresh and will no doubt age well. "
5 Stars & Number 1 Riesling, Dish Magazine, February 2017 (2011 Vintage)
"While our judges all agreed this six-year-old wine was still carrying seriously attractive, youthful citrus and tropical fruit layers, the thing that really snagged us was how deliciously it was taking on the complex secondary characters of kerosene, apple skin, nutty, caramelised biscuit notes alongside those zesty apple and mandarin flavours. “Very Germanic,” noted Cameron. “It’s classic, juicy and shows great minerality.” “I loved this wine when it was first released and I love it more now,” shrugged Yvonne. “It’s a really lovely wine, joyful, with delightful acidity,” added Jane. “A real gem.”"
5 Stars & 19.0-/20 Raymond Chan, July 2016 (2011 Vintage)
"Brilliant, light straw-yellow colour with green hues, lighter on the rim. The bouquet is fine in proportion and tightly bound with fruit aromas of limes and lemonade harmoniously melded with subtle layers of toast and minerals and a suggestion of kerosene secondary development, unfolding honey and exotic floral elements. Sweet to taste and light bodied, the palate is rich and succulently sweet with focussed flavours of limes and lemonade entwined with complexing honey, toast and mineral notes. The mouthfeel is near creamy and unctuous and balanced by piquant, refreshingly racy acidity and the wine follows a fine phenolic threaded line with poise and tension. The flavours carry to a long, lingering finish of lime, honey and toast with the beginnings of drying textures. This is an elegantly rich sweet Germanic Spatlese styled Riesling with complexing secondary development and a near unctuous palate with balancing acid poise. Serve as an aperitif or as a wine to contemplate over the next 4-5+ years. Clean fruit with no botrytis from the ‘Johnson Estate D Block’, from the original plantings, hand-picked, WBP and fermented in oak to 8.6% alc., and 72 g/L RS, TA 9.8 g/L and pH 2.78, the wine aged 4 months on light lees."
