"This distinguished wine is estate-grown in the Waihopai Valley, hand-picked, fermented with indigenous yeasts and lees-aged in French oak barriques (mostly seasoned) for up to 20 months. Elegant and youthful, the 2014 vintage is fragrant and tightly structured, with fresh, concentrated, peachy, slightly toasty and creamy flavours, a minerally streak, good acid spine and obvious cellaring potential. Best drinking 2017+."

"Bright pale straw colour with green hues, pale on rim. This has a full and voluminous nose with harmoniously concentrated aromas of ripe citrus fruits and white stonefruits melded with layers of creamy and nutty barrel-fermentation elements, unfolding spicy and toast oak elements, along with flinty lees and refreshing mineral nuances. Medium-full bodied, the wine is fresh, vibrant and lively with mouthfilling flavours of white and yellow stonefruits, citrus fruits, harmoniously entwined with layers of spicy and nutty oak, toasty elements and flinty detail. The wine flows along a fine-textured line, driven by bright and crisp acidity. This has excellent tension and drive, the acidity carrying the wine to a very long, tightly concentrated, dry finish of citrus fruits, flint and nuts. This is a vibrant, complex Chardonnay with layers of stonefruit, nutty and spicy oak flavours and a crisp and lively mouthfeel. Serve with roast seafood and creamy poultry and pork dishes over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked fruit, predominantly clone 15 with some Mendoza and clone 95 from the ‘Johnson B’ block, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 40% oak then transferred to older oak for a further 4 months maturation, the wine undergoing 100% MLF."
