Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"There's a buzz happening around Gisborne Albariño. One sip of this and you'll understand why. From an exceptional vintage, 2014 Heart of Gold Albariño is lush with honeyed pear and tropical fruit, zesty citrus and floral zing, yet still round and silken in the mouth. This famed vinho verde cries out for mussels, rabbit stew or charcoal-grilled calamari, perhaps a whole snapper, slashed, stuffed and grilled over vine cuttings. That sort of summery thing.
Ready to drink now, but will develop over the next two to three years.

Pale yellow-green, with a touch of lemon. Aromas of passion fruit, tropical temptations, peaches and nectarines. A fruit salad of scents! The palate is crisp and cleansing, with lingering passion fruit and a long savoury finish."
4 Stars & 17.5-/20 Raymond Chan, February 2016 (2015 Vintage)
"Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is soft and light with elegant proportions, showing fresh, delicate aromas of white floral, herbs, stonefruits and minerals, all entwined harmoniously. The nose has a subtle savoury underlay with a fine cut. Dryish to taste and light-medium bodied, the flavours of exotic white florals, stonefruits and herbs show with clarity and purity, and are gently enriched with nuances of honeysuckle. The mouthfeel is rounded and soft-textured with soft acidity, and the wine flows easily to a moderately sustained, floral nuanced finish. This is a soft and elegant, dryish Albarino with pure and gentle white floral and stonefruit flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2-3+ years. Fifth crop fruit from the ‘Spade Oak’ vineyard, hand-picked and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.2% alc. and 5 g/L RS, TA 7.4 g/L and pH 3.42. 145 dozen made."
Michael Cooper (2015 Vintage)
"The 2015 vintage was hand-picked and made in a dryish style (5 grams/litre of residual sugar). Medium-bodied, it is fresh and vibrantly fruity, with ripe, peachy flavours, a slightly salty note, balanced acidity and very good depth."
