96% Sauvignon Blanc, 4% Sémillon
Winery notes (2014 Vintage)
"18 different parcels of Sauvignon Blanc and two of Sémillon from different vineyard blocks were pressed and fermented separately. The wine was naturally fermented using wild yeast, and 20% of the total blend was fermented in old French oak barriques to give complexity and texture. After eight months, all the separate parcels were tasted and blended to create an interesting and elegant style.

Subtle on the nose with warm notes of ripe yellow stone-fruit, soft passion fruit and a chalky-mineral complexity. The palate is layered and finely textured, with ripe gooseberry, tropical and citrus notes, framed by a mouth-watering acidity, which creates a persistent finish."
4 1/2 Stars Michael Cooper (2014 Vintage)
"This is one of the region's most sophisticated, subtle and satisfying Sauvignons. It's also one of the most important, given its widespread international distribution and certified BioGro status. The grapes are grown in the original estate vineyard near Renwick, and in the company's younger vineyards, especially Raupo Creek, on an elevated slope in the Omaka Valley. The wine (which includes 5 to 9 per cent Sémillon) is mostly fermented in tanks with indigenous yeasts, but 15 to 20 per cent of the blend is fermented and lees-aged in seasoned French oak casks. The 2014 vintage is typically rewarding. Light lemon/green, it is medium to full-bodied, with good intensity of melon/lime flavours, a gentle hint of oak, a dry finish (3 grams/litre of residual sugar), and excellent complexity, harmony and personality."
93/100 James Suckling (2014 Vintage)
"Once again a portion of barrel matured wine and a little semillon added to the mix, this has a sophisticated nose with dried flowers, meadow hay and citrus fruits, gently complex and enticing. The palate delivers a powerful, driving citrus-focused impression, dry and long, handy structure too. Drink now and up to 2020."
90/100 Decanter (2014 Vintage)
"Certified organic with all of the vineyards biodynamically farmed, this is a sophisticated Sauvignon Blanc showing much more depth and focus than many of its peers. Grapefruit and lemon-focused palate with a creamy texture from the small amount of oak ageing."
