63% Pinot Noir and 37% Chardonnay
Winery notes (NV)
"A sparkling wine exuding elegance and finesse. Pale yellow with a bouquet of Royal gala apple and hints of lime and brioche. On the palate, this is flirtatious and moreish. Enhanced by an invigorating cool, creamy acidity. Focused, cool and crisp with beautiful balance and length.

This wine is from our Organic, Biodynamic Certified Estate vineyard located in the Bendigo sub-region of Central Otago. The vineyard was planted in 1998 after careful site selection. The soils on the beautiful north facing slope are Waenga fine sandy loam and Letts steepland with an elevation of 217 – 264 metres, on 44.55° south.

Cuvee Hand-picked, 9/10th and 16/17th March 2015. A selected blend of 63% Pinot Noir and 37% Chardonnay. Bottle fermented and aged on lees. Riddled and disgorged by hand from Autumn 2017 onwards at Quartz Reef. The winemaking was very much in keeping with the traditional practices of the Old World. The winemaker, Rudi Bauer, has combined these techniques, and his own personal understanding, to create this wine."
Yvonne Lorkin, June 2017 (NV)
"New Zealand’s largest quartz rock deposit looks a bit like an underground reef, and it sits directly below Quartz Reef’s vineyards in the sub-region of Bendigo.  This biodynamically-grown, classically-styled fizz is a blend of pinot noir and chardonnay sourced from both Bendigo and a small patch of vines in Gibbston and it’s one of the finest in the land.  Hints of lemon, elderflower, cashew and apple give it elegance and all-round awesomeness."
4 Stars & 18.0+/20 Raymond Chan, October 2017 (NV)
"Bright straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of light gold, pale edged, the bubbles are very fine with good persistence. The nose is softly full and voluminous with fresh aromas of yellow stonefruits, citrus fruit and white florals, harmoniously entwined with soft bready-yeasty autolysis. The nose has good depth and a tight core. Dry to taste, the palate has soft, rich flavours of white stonefruits and florals interwoven with bready-yeasty autolysis. The mouthfeel is gently full and creamy with fine mousse, and is balanced by refreshing acidity. The flavours form an elegant core with good drive, carrying the wine to a long, lingering, concentrated finish of stonefruits and yeast. This is a softly rich, fresh and creamy methode traditionnelle with stonefruit and yeasty flavours, and a tight core and line. Serve as an aperitif and with white meat dishes over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit, in March 2015, a blend of 63% Pinot Noir and 37% Chardonnay, fermented in bottle to 12.5% alc., with 6 g/L RS, the wine aged on less with disgorging from autumn 2017. Lot 2015. Certified Demeter biodynamic."
