Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"The GSM blend is a stalwart of the Barossa. The three red varieties have been planted in the region for nearly 170 years, and in the past were commonly blended to make fortified ‘tawny port’ style wines. After World War II the same blend started to become popular in table wines. ‘Grenache Shiraz Mataro’ is a bit of a mouthful – hence the birth of the colloquial ‘GSM’.

Garnet red in colour, this wine leaps from the glass with strawberry compote, potpourri, nutmeg and fennel seed. The palate has juicy raspberry, ironstone and a long savoury line that finishes with talc like tannins. Enjoy with corn and zucchini fritters topped with a smoky tomato relish or southern fried chicken ribs and jalapeno mayonnaise.

Matured for 12 months in new French oak hogsheads and puncheons (12%), balance in older French, Hungarian and American oak hogsheads, French oak puncheons and barriques. Vegan Friendly"

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, April 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"The grenache influence is clear and attractive in this perfumed red filled with raspberries, dark plums, violet, cocoa and roasted nuts. It is juicy and silky with a flowing mouthfeel, backed by pristine fruit flavours and elegant spicy nuances. At its best: now to 2021."

4 Stars & 17.5/20 Raymond Chan, March 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"Even, dark ruby-red colour with a lighter edge. The nose is gently full with an ethereal array of aromas with dark raspberry fruit, liquorice and spices forming a core revealing dark herbs and earthy detail. Medium-full bodied, the palate has an elegantly concentrated and refined core with flavours of dark raspberries entwined with spices, dark herbs and earthy notes, unfolding dark-red florals and liquorice. The fruit forms a firm heart and the palate has good linearity, and the wine flows smoothly with very fine textures and balanced acidity. The wine carries to a long and sustained finish of raspberries and spices. This is an elegantly concentrated, fine and firm hearted GSM with aromatic raspberry fruit with spice and liquorice interest on a fine-textured palate. Match with Middle Eastern fare over the next 4+ years. Barossa Valley fruit, a blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro, fermented to 13.5% alc., 12% of the wine aged 12 months in new French oak hogsheads, the remainder in seasoned French, Hungarian and American oak."
