90% Tempranillo & 10% Garnacha
A beautifully modern and accessible Spanish red, grown with organic practices in the famous Rioja region. Vina Zorzal are based in the neighbouring region of Navarro, and named this wine to recognise being 'tenants' in this more famous region to their south. Made in a deliciously soft and bright-fruited style, this modern red is perfect for barbeques and tasty casual dining.
Luis Gutierrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2016 Vintage)
"The entry-level 2016 El Inquilino is a fruit-driven, straightforward blend of Tempranillo with 10% Garnacha from vines averaging 35 years of age on alluvial and limestone soils in the Najerilla Valley. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in 5,000-liter stainless steel vats, where it also underwent malolactic, followed by six months in second use French oak barriques. It's light and fresh, approachable and easy to drink, with virtually no tannins. 9,300 bottles were filled in June 2017. — El Inquilino Wines is a small project in Rioja by the team of Zorzal in Navarra. For now, they produce some 16,000 bottles between two wines made from Tempranillo and Garnacha in the Najerilla Valley. Winemaking is the responsibility of Jorge Navascués, who is now also the winemaker at Contino."
