Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"Deep purple and crimson hues lead to a perfumed nose of violet, black fruit, herb and spice aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, supple and silky in texture, featuring wonderfully integrated tannins. Pure fruit flavours lead the wine to a lengthy finish.
The 2018 Hawkes Bay vintage followed on from officially one of the warmest summers on record, which gave red varietals in particular superb conditions for ripening. The white harvest commenced early in March with pressure from rain, however, the majority of the later ripening reds were harvested in excellent condition under welcome blue skies. Fruit was picked and gently destemmed without crushing into open-top fermenters for fermentation with daily plunging to extract flavour, colour and tannin. Once pressed the wine was matured in 228L French oak barriques of which 18% were new, for 14 months prior to blending and bottling."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2018 Vintage)
"The very youthful 2018 vintage was matured for a year in French oak barriques (25 per cent new). Full-coloured, it is mouthfilling and supple, with fresh acidity and strong, vibrant plum and black-pepper flavours. Well worth cellaring, it should be at its best 2021+."

95/100 NWWA (2017 Vintage)
"In the last 5 years, New Zealand Syrah has gone from pretty much unknown outside of New Zealand to winning major awards in wine competitions around the world. Here’s a wine loaded with dark plum and blueberry aromas with a touch of oak in the background. Red berry flavours with black pepper spice and a trace of liquorice. A glorious wine to savour and one to impress the wine connoisseur in your life."
4 Stars Cuisine Syrah Tasting, June 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Floral and juicy with an elegant line of fruit. Flavours of raspberry, plum, lavender and cranberry merge with the more savoury notes of a smouldering camp fire and exotic spices. The finish is tender yet enduring.
