This may be the 'entry level' Chardonnay in the Vidal range, but a mark of a good winemaker is being able to produce quality across the range. This delivers great value – creamy citrus fruits and a seasoning of spicy oak.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Fruit was grown in Ohiti Valley and Puketapu where large diurnal shifts provide excellent fruit ripeness while retaining fresh acidity. Particular attention was given to “opening up” vine canopies, yield restriction and selective harvesting. This vintage and our sites deliver a classic Hawke's Bay Chardonnay on an elegantly styled palate.
Enticing aromas of citrus and stone fruit with subtle French oak and flinty minerality combine on a vibrant, balanced fruit-driven palate. This wine can be enjoyed on its own or served with fresh seasonal produce."
Reviews for the 2019 vintage below…
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, September 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"It's attractively fruited and elegantly fragrant, showing Gala apple, nectarine, lemon peel and almond characters on the nose, followed by a finely textured palate that's gently weighted and lingering. The wine displays lovely poise and delicate intensity, finishing long and pleasingly dry. At its best: now to 2023."
