Selected for the Fine Wines of New Zealand List
Previous vintages of Vavasour Sauvignon Blanc have an impressive lineage including the coveted Trophy for best Sauvignon Blanc in the world at the Decanter World Wine Awards. Pioneers of the Awatere sub- region of Marlborough the fruit for this is all from the original home block. Nothing but impressive from the Awatere Valley's oldest winery.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Vavasour Sauvignon Blanc 2020 offers recognisable aromas of passionfruit and citrus peel upfront, evolving with layers of green tropicals and an oyster shell minerality. Vibrant flavours of tropical fruits and citrus hang off this concentrated and textural wine. A saline minerality and an elegant acid line run through the wine showcasing its Awatere Valley origin. Poised and complex."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2020 Vintage)
"The 2020 vintage is an excellent example of the fresh, punchy sub-regional style, with slightly riper, less herbaceous fruit characters than many. Bright, light lemon/green, it is aromatic, full-bodied and vigorous, with strong, vibrant melon, citrus and green capsicum flavours, and a crisp, dry (3.6 grams/litre of residual sugar), lingering finish. It's drinking well now."
91/100 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2020 Vintage)
"Redolent of redcurrants and pink grapefruit, Vavasour's 2020 Sauvignon Blanc is a terrifically aromatic offering. There are hints of stone fruit and cut grass as well. The medium-bodied palate is rainwater pristine, and the tart finish is brisk and refreshing."

5 Stars & 95/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review (2019 Vintage)
"Rich, textural and weighty wine with typical Awatere cut grass, green capsicum, mineral and tomato leaf characters. Concentrated and satisfying sauvignon blanc that’s delicious now but will continue to deliver pleasure."
