Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Crunchy pear, lime zest, red apple, and wet stone on the nose accentuated by a wonderful earthy character. The palate exudes pear essence, citrus and minerality; showing the intense focus of a cooler growing season. This is an elegant wine with a richly textured mid-palate that is complemented by a vibrant vein of acidity that gives the wine great length. Our Pinot Gris is great for food pairing but also delicious on its own and very age worthy."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2021 (2019 Vintage)
"Gorgeously composed and elegantly fragrant with apricot, green pear, white floral and lemon peel aromas with a hint of oatmeal complexity. The palate delivers excellent weight and roundness together with silky texture and bright acidity, making it wonderfully harmonious and persistent. At its best: now to 2030."

"Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is soft and has purity, crunchy Nashi pear, green apple interweave white florals, acacia and delicate spice. Medium-bodied, dry to taste, vibrant aromas of green apple, Nashi pear complexed by citrus peels, white florals, followed by acacia, honey and an elegant dusting of five-spice. The wine has freshness and purity of flavours, flows on a refreshing acid drive along subtle, smooth textured phenolic. Honey and acacia scent added richness and linger on the closing. This is a dry, elegant Pinot Gris with crunchy fruit, delicate floral, honey and spice details on a refreshing palate. Match with fried halloumi and chicken satay over the next 4-5 years. Fruit sourced from Gibbston, fermented in stainless steel to 13% alc, 3 g/l RS."

"Named after winemaker Grant Taylor’s great grandfather Guiseppe Valli, this brand is responsible for some of my favourite New Zealand pinot noir’s, however I’m relatively new to his pinot gris. Having tasted this 2019, I’m now going to hold them to a standing order. Ultra-clean, delicately scented with pear drop, apple blossom and poached quince, the palate is a continuation of all that good stuff, with the added appeal of whipcrack acidity and grin-inducing textures."
