Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Purple hue with an incredible floral fragrance and lifted fruit aromas of boysenberry and plum, followed by savoury notes of toasted almond, coffee, and cedar. Flavours of blackberry and cherry on the palate with nutmeg, mushroom, and earthy loam. The palate is voluminous and mouth-filling with silky tannins that build in the mouth giving a long, memorable finish. Powerful yet refined, this is quintessential Bendigo Pinot with a tangy freshness that comes from grapes grown at elevation. Lively and inviting in its youth, this wine will also go the distance and is worthy of cellaring for 12+ years."
5 Stars & 97/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2021 (2019 Vintage)
"A splendid attack of dark cherry aromas combined with nuances of game, hazelnut, vanilla and cake spice lead to an opulent palate displaying outstanding depth and density, while remaining soothing and harmonious with layers of delectable flavours. At its best: 2023 to 2031."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"The powerful, rich, sweet-fruited 2019 vintage was hand-picked, matured in French oak barriques (30 per cent new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Deep ruby, it is extremely youthful, with a strong surge of vibrant, plummy, spicy flavours, a hint of liquorice, fresh acidity, and good tannin backbone. Best drinking 2023+."
5 Stars & 96/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review (2019 Vintage)
"A good example of Bendigo pinot noir with typically ripe plum, dark berry and spice flavours. It manages to be concentrated and fruit-forward without being a fruit-bomb style thanks, perhaps in part, to a structure of ripe, peppery tannins. Should develop well with bottle age. Drink 2021 to 2030."
5 Stars & 19+/20 (96) Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, May 2021 (2019 Vintage)
"Deep ruby-red with moderate transparency, faintly lighter on the rim. The nose is fragrant with subtle power, herbaceous nuances of thyme, liquorice, vine leaves, and stalks interweave a hint of deep floral, black fruit core and spices filled the bouquet. Medium-full bodied, aroma of black cherries, plums, and berries have a concentrated core and a savoury edge, unfolding liquorice, thyme, rose petals, and an amalgam of spice. The mouthfeel is with density, tightly-knitted fine-grained tannin coated the palate with silk and a chewy texture. Balance acidity supports a smooth flow and carries spices across the palate; herbaceous element lingers to a long, refine closing. This is a fragrant Pinot Noir with black fruit and a spice-filled palate, showing power and grace on a fine-textured, silky palate. Match with herb-crusted lamb racks and black truffle risotto over the next 8-10+ years. Fruit was sourced from Chinaman's Terrace, Bendigo, fermented with 58% whole bunch to 14% alc, aged 12 months in French oak barrels, 30% new oak."
94/100 James Suckling (2019 Vintage)
"A rich, ripe expression of blueberries, sweet spices, violets and blackberries. The palate has smooth-honed, blueberry and blackberry flavours with plush, ribbon-like layers of tannin. Strong yet fine style here."
