It is no secret that we are great fans of Two Rivers Rosé and we look forward to each new vintage release with anticipation to see how wine maker Dave Clouston has tweaked and developed the style. Dave is looking for a wine with a refreshing salty, briny character along with red summer fruits, Mediterranean herb flavours. He has succeeded brilliantly, with the 2020 an epitome of succulent, delicious refreshingness. This vintage will gain more and more fans, both locally and around the world.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Pale salmon in colour, this Mediterranean style rosé is savoury with fresh sea breeze aromas of Himalayan salt and green peppercorn, overlaying nuances of cranberry and Honeydew melon. The zesty palate exudes mandarin, white peach, grapefruit and blackcurrant with touches of spice and wet stone. This elegant rosé is perfectly poised with grainy tension, delivering a briny fresh, vibrant and dry finish.
A prolonged Indian summer with cool nights, typical of Marlborough, led to expressive wines with great natural acidity. The season produced pristine fruit with
beautifully ripe flavours. Treated as a white wine in the winery this rosé was pressed off skins early, fermented cold and then aged for 10 weeks in stainless steel and concrete egg tanks to accentuate complexity and minerality."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2020 (2020 Vintage)
"Exquisitely elegant and delicately fragrant, the wine shows crunchy apple, white flesh nectarine, lemon peel and white floral aromas on the nose, followed by a finely focused palate that's persistent and linear. It's light and fabulous poised with juicy flavours, finishing splendidly long and crisp. At its best: now to 2022."
Rated Premium & 92/100 Cameron Douglas MS, August 2020 (2020 Vintage)
"Floral, ripe, delicate, fruity and a decidedly pretty bouquet with aromas of white blossoms and light red berry fruits. On the palate – mouth watering acidity gives way to flavours of red melon and cranberry, white strawberry and tropical fruits. The delicate blossom note returns long with a touch of stony minerality. No mistaking the acidity and crunchy textures. Balanced and well made, ready to enjoy from today and through summer 2022."

"David Clouston spent a lot of time learning the art of winemaking on the jawdroppingly gorgeous, French island of Corsica in the Mediterranean. It’s also the place where he became more than mildly obsessed with rosé. Adopting the Provençal ideal of blending many different grape varieties to create a dry, spicy, thirst-quenching style this melange of Marlborough fruit was fermented in a combo of stainless steel and concrete egg tanks to boost the minerality and layers of bodacious blackcurrant, watermelon, fresh herbs and citrus. Clean, yet complex and ever-so-slightly sea-breezy, it’s an antipodean star named after a Mediterranean paradise."
Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, October 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"The Two Rivers Isle of Beauty Rosé 2019 is a pale rosé with a pretty pink hue. An unconventional blend of pinot noir, syrah with minor amounts of viognier, riesling and pinot gris. Delicate floral, violet, raspberry flavours together with a salty-mineral tang. Assertive acidity."
IWSC 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"This is a pale pink colour. Delicious primary fruit on the nose leads to a palate with cassis and crisp acid that keeps it fresh all the way to the finish. Delicate and pure."
4 Stars Cuisine Rose Tasting, December 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"Stunning pale colour with lifted and inviting crisp fruit aromas. The palate is supple, succulent, bright and dry with wonderful fruit fleshiness."
