Two River's Dave Clouston takes the production of Rose extremely seriously and this label would now have to be New Zealand's premier quality Rose. Dave is looking for a wine with a refreshing salty, briny character along with red summer fruits, Mediterranean herb flavours. He has succeeded brilliantly, with the 2019 an epitome of succulent, delicious refreshingness.
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"This Mediterranean style rosé is elegant and savoury with almond blossom, white peach and mandarin flavours. The wine is perfectly poised and complex, delivering a briny fresh, vibrant and dry finish.
Fresh herb aromas of fennel pollen, wild thyme, liquorice plant and sherbet, overlaying nuances of almond blossom, white peach and mandarin. The zesty palate exudes fleshy tamarillo, citrus pith and blackcurrant with touches of spice and wet stone.
After a beautifully warm but excessively dry summer, harvest began three weeks ahead of normal. It was an amazing vintage with pristine fruit, small berries, and great concentration. Treated as a white wine in the winery – this rosé was pressed off the skins early, fermented cold and then aged for 10 weeks in stainless steel and concrete egg tanks to accentuate complexity and minerality."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"It’s delicate and inviting on the nose showing white flesh nectarine, lemon and apple characters with a touch of raspberry note. The palate delivers excellent focus and lovely weight backed by bright acidity, leading to a delightfully long crisp finish. Poised and charming. At its best: now to 2021."

"David Clouston spent a lot of time learning the art of winemaking on the jawdroppingly gorgeous, French island of Corsica in the Mediterranean. It’s also the place where he became more than mildly obsessed with rosé. Adopting the Provençal ideal of blending many different grape varieties to create a dry, spicy, thirst-quenching style this melange of Marlborough fruit was fermented in a combo of stainless steel and concrete egg tanks to boost the minerality and layers of bodacious blackcurrant, watermelon, fresh herbs and citrus. Clean, yet complex and ever-so-slightly sea-breezy, it’s an antipodean star named after a Mediterranean paradise."
Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, October 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"The Two Rivers Isle of Beauty Rosé 2019 is a pale rosé with a pretty pink hue. An unconventional blend of pinot noir, syrah with minor amounts of viognier, riesling and pinot gris. Delicate floral, violet, raspberry flavours together with a salty-mineral tang. Assertive acidity."
IWSC 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"This is a pale pink colour. Delicious primary fruit on the nose leads to a palate with cassis and crisp acid that keeps it fresh all the way to the finish. Delicate and pure."
92/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"A lovely bouquet of rose, peach and light red fruit scents. Captivating, fresh and youthful. Equally enticing on the palate – in fact more so – with light red fruit and peach tea flavours, acidity that dances on the palate carrying flavour and freshness with a little wet stone minerality and saltiness. Well made, lush textures, very easy to drink this wine. Enjoy from today and every day through 2020."
4 Stars Cuisine Rose Tasting, December 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"Stunning pale colour with lifted and inviting crisp fruit aromas. The palate is supple, succulent, bright and dry with wonderful fruit fleshiness."
