Two River's Dave Clouston takes the production of Rose extremely seriously and this label would now have to be New Zealand's premier quality Rose. Dave is looking for a wine with a refreshing salty, briny character along with red summer fruits, Mediterranean herb flavours. He has succeeded brilliantly, with the 2019 an epitome of succulent, delicious refreshingness.
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"This Mediterranean style rosé is elegant and savoury with almond blossom, white peach and mandarin flavours. The wine is perfectly poised and complex, delivering a briny fresh, vibrant and dry finish.
Fresh herb aromas of fennel pollen, wild thyme, liquorice plant and sherbet, overlaying nuances of almond blossom, white peach and mandarin. The zesty palate exudes fleshy tamarillo, citrus pith and blackcurrant with touches of spice and wet stone.
After a beautifully warm but excessively dry summer, harvest began three weeks ahead of normal. It was an amazing vintage with pristine fruit, small berries, and great concentration. Treated as a white wine in the winery – this rosé was pressed off the skins early, fermented cold and then aged for 10 weeks in stainless steel and concrete egg tanks to accentuate complexity and minerality."
Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, October 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"The Two Rivers Isle of Beauty Rosé 2019 is a pale rosé with a pretty pink hue. An unconventional blend of pinot noir, syrah with minor amounts of viognier, riesling and pinot gris. Delicate floral, violet, raspberry flavours together with a salty-mineral tang. Assertive acidity."
IWSC 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"This is a pale pink colour. Delicious primary fruit on the nose leads to a palate with cassis and crisp acid that keeps it fresh all the way to the finish. Delicate and pure."

5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"This is fabulous; the gorgeously expressed bouquet shows delightful aromas of nectarine, rockmelon, raspberry, floral and lemon peel, leading to a vibrant palate that is concentrated and refined with wonderful fruit purity and fine texture. Beautifully harmonious and poised with an impressively long elegant crisp finish. At its best: now to 2021."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 (94) Raymond Chan, August 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"Brilliant, pale strawberry pink with suggestions of purple on the rim, light on the edge. The nose is very elegant and fragrant with subtle aromas of red florals and soft-red berry fruits along with thirst-quenching minerality and delicate lees nuances. This has intensity and penetration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a fine and concentrated, intense core with delicate flavours of red berry fruit and red and white florals, along with mouth-watering mineral and lees elements. The palate has a firm line with very fine dry, phenolic textures with soft, background acidity lending energy. The wine leads to an elegant lingering, detailed thirst-quenching dry finish. This is a finely concentrated, taut and elegant dry rosé with delicate red berry, floral and mineral flavours on a mouth-watering palate. Serve as an aperitif, with canapés and antipasto over the next 2 years. A blend of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Roussanne, from the ‘Saint Maure’, ‘Hagen’ and ‘Brookby Hill’ vineyards in the Southern Valleys, fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 3 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees."
