Trinity Hill The Gimblett is one of our favourite Hawkes Bay Bordeaux variety blends. This label always offers plenty and we consider it to be incredible value. This vintage blend has a higher percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon than previous vintages and followers of the label will not be disappointed as it has all the depth and richness we expect.
Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"“The Gimblett” is traditionally made from a blend of grape varieties. The Cabernet family gives structure and fresh aromatics. Merlot gives richness and mid-palate weight with Malbec helping with complexity, density and colour.
The result is a wine with exotically perfumed aromatics that include ripe blackberries and red fruits plus hints of florals and dried herbs. There is superb clarity of flavours on the palate. Structurally the wine is complex, with textural tannins. This structure will allow the development of further complexity over the next 10 years."
5 Stars Winestate Magazine (2016 Vintage)
"This very ageworthy, blended red is dominated by cabernet sauvignon (43%) and cabernet franc (41%), with splashes of merlot and malbec. Matured for 16 months in French oak barriques (35% new), it is deeply coloured, full-bodied, fresh and vigorous, with concentrated, youthful blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, good tannin backbone and a long finish. Best drinking 2022+."

"This has an attractive array of fine pepper and spice aromas with dark chocolate and ripe plums. There’s elegance here, as well as a long wrap of fine, ripe tannins. Very convincing finish."
