Incredible buying on a real Aussie treasure

What a deal this is!

This premium blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot from Coonawarra really hits the spot. Made for the restaurant trade in Australia by the well known John Quarisa, aka Johnny Q, but it never really took off over there (perhaps sharing a name with a well known brand of nappies worked against it?) and now it is being off loaded across the ditch here in NZ. A good thing for us as this has to be one of the best buys out of Australia for quite some time. A full, rich, powerful and luscious Aussie red that has spent 16 months in oak and that is sure to satisfy the heartiest of cravings.

Winery notes (2012 Vintage)
"Our 3 treasures – unique, innocent and energetic – are our children. Together, from precious innocence we have drawn inspiration. For us Treasures symbolises life where anything is conquerable, where dreams become reality, where passion is everything.

This Cabernet Merlot has a fresh bouquet displaying aromas of ripe berry fruit flavours. The complex palate has intense fresh, fruity and mint aromas from the Cabernet and plumy ripe sweetness from the Merlot. Balanced with mocha and spicy oak, treasure these profound flavours and enjoy a glass tonight."

5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2018 (2012 Vintage)
"This is a gorgeous red filled with dark fruit flavours together with seductive notes of bitter chocolate, vanilla, cedar and black olive. It is concentrated and plump, delivering waves of delectable flavours backed by silky texture and fine-grained tannins. Powerful and immensely appealing. At its best: now to 2021."

5 Stars & 18.5/20 Raymond Chan, May 2018 (2012 Vintage)
"Very full, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour. The bouquet is softly full and densely packed with aromas of ripe blackberries, mulberries and blackcurrant fruit along with a complex amalgam of savoury, secondary earthy notes and dark plums with liquorice elements. This is soft and integrated, and the aromatics blossom in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and full, sweet and plush flavours of ripe dark plums with blackberries and mulberries, entwined with subtle notes of savoury dark herbs and integrated earthy elements. The fruit flavours are mouthfilling and supported by soft, fine-grained tannin structure and integrated acidity. The flavours of savoury and spicy plums blossom and carry to a strong, rich and luscious finish. This is a soft and deeply concentrated Cabernet/Merlot with savoury dark red berry, plum and mulberry flavours with complexing secondary detail on a fine-grained palate. Serve with casseroles and slow-cooked game meat over the next 6+ years. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot from Coonawarra, fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 16 months in new and seasoned French and American oak barrels."
