Winery notes (2013 Vintage)
"TOSQ Pinot Noir is a single vineyard wine. It is made from grapes grown on TOSQ Terrace Vineyard located in the centre of the Pisa district, Central Otago, New Zealand. The wine displays depth and concentration, with dark berry fruits backed by savoury elements and spice, woven together with a fine tannin structure.
No herbicides are used on the vineyard. The grapes are grown under an organic regime. Composts, seaweed and teas are used to feed the vines and support the soil biology. 2013 produced ideal growing conditions and the fruit was hand harvested on the 9th April in perfect condition.
The wine was made by Dan and Sarah-Kate Dineen and their team at the Maude Winery using traditional techniques. It was aged in french oak barrels, 30% new for 10 months prior to bottling."
5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, February 2021 (2013 Vintage)
"A superb expression; the engaging bouquet shows spiced cherry, smoked game, mushroom and dried herb notes. It's equally satisfying on the palate with excellent weight and intensity, combined with silky texture and grainy tannins, making it firm and structured with a lengthy spicy finish. At its best: now to 2025."
