Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Barrel fermented Mendoza Chardonnay produced in barriques made from heartwood of Quercus Robur, French Oak. The meeting of two 'terroirs', the mighty oaks of Central France and the finest Chardonnay vineyards of Hawke's Bay. Seriously good Chardonnay.
Lifted aromas of vanilla bean, ripe peach and spicy oak. There are nuances of toasty hazelnut and ripe citrus rind. The palate has a flavoursome entry with generous mid-palate texture showing the stone fruit and citrus flavours promised on the nose. The palate is well balanced with fine grained oak tannins and gentle acidity that gives length and persistence of flavour."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"This is splendidly fruited and seductively complex on the nose showing golden peach, fresh fig, vanilla and roasted hazelnut characters. It's concentrated and richly textured on the palate, displaying excellent weight and beautifully layered mouthfeel, finishing impressively long and delectable. At its best: now to 2026."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, July 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Tasted over two days. Day two is when this wine starts to really tell its story showcasing aromas of ripe grapefruit and yellow orchard fruits, a baking spice and creamy custard layer, noticeable complexity with synergies from baking spices and fruits, shape and texture surrounds the bouquet with a mineral stone – like core. On the palate – an immediate satin mouthfeel is contrasted by the youthful bite of oak and some of its fine tannins. Medium acidity accentuates the citrus, apple and yellow orchard fruit flavours. Curiously complex, detailed, youthful and lengthy. A really lovely wine with longevity on its side as well as early drinking. Best drinking from early 2021 through 2025+."
94/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, August 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Barrel-fermented Mendoza clone chardonnay that’s predictably rich with plenty of weight and generous peach and spicy oak flavours. An assertive and appealing wine with an impressively lingering finish."

"The 2018 vintage is fragrant, fresh and youthful, with mouthfilling body, strong, ripe stonefruit flavours, enriched with toasty oak, balanced acidity, and very good complexity. A very ageworthy wine, it should be at its best 2021+."
