A favourite of ours for a good few years now this McLaren Vale Shiraz is a big, plush, fruity number that opens up in the glass to reveal plenty more while its sheer drinkability is nothing but pleasure. From what winemaker Matt Broomhead regards as a "1 in 30 year vintage", this 2021 release is another stunner and although delicious now it will reward some cellar time.
Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Dense and expressive. Aromas of forest berries, all spice and musk. Flavours of blackberry, plum and chocolate. Some spice with a touch of earth. Soft and rich with a plush mid-palate. Gentle but persistent tannin giving it flow and a long, even finish."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2022 (2021 Vintage)
"Superbly fruited and perfumed showing blackberry, sweet plum, floral, clove and cedar notes, leading to a concentrated palate that's filled with delicious fruit intensity backed by velvety tannins. Opulent and sumptuous with plush mouthfeel while offering firm structure and persistency"
4 Stars Cuisine Shiraz Tasting, June 2022 (2021 Vintage)
"A lovely cool-style shiraz with wonderful colour and a heady nose. Blue and blackberry aromas alongside cocoa and chocolate notes are entwined with fresh and vibrant florals. Black olive and freshly cracked pepper sit alongside redcurrant and dark fruit bramble flavours on the spicy yet silky palate."
