Gold Medal & 95/100 – New World Wine Awards 2021
Here's a flavour packed Pinot Gris! It will attract your attention as much as it has the wine judges in the past. A full rich style that bursts with poached pear flavours and a hint of sweetness. Delicious!
Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"The warm, dry climate, high sunshine hours, and long growing seasons in the region of Waipara are perfectly suited to produce Pinot Gris with ripe flavours whilst retaining a good natural acidity. The wine displays lovely delicate floral Pinot Gris characters of fresh citrus, white pear and hints of lychee and spice. The palate is textured and mouth filling finishing with excellent freshness. Best enjoyed young."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2021 (2021 Vintage)
"Delightfully fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows apricot, Nashi pear, rockmelon and floral aromas, followed by an elegantly flavoursome palate offering excellent fruit purity and rounded mouthfeel, finishing long and refreshing. At its best: now to 2024."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2021 Vintage)
"Already drinking well, the 2021 vintage, grown in North Canterbury, was tank-fermented and lees-aged. Pale lemon/green, it is a strongly varietal wine, with lively peach, pear and spice aromas and flavours, very good depth and an off-dry finish. Fine value. (From Villa Maria.)"

"Juicy apple and pear weave in and out of the tropical fruit flavours with tingles of ginger and strudel spices adding liveliness and freshness to the beautifully rounded, very moreish and just off-dry finish."
5 Stars, Top 5 & Best Buy Cuisine Pinot Gris Tasting, February 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Bright pear and ripe stonefruit give this attractive youthful aromatic pinot gris a lift. A crisp textural palate that treads lightly yet still manages to be mouthfilling. A well handled wine; juicy, fresh and relaxed with a sort of spicy purity. A delicious example that only asks to be enjoyed."
