Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2019
Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"This Shiraz is deep inky red in colour with a bright purple hue. On the nose there is an abundance of dark fruits with mocha and dark chocolate notes. The palate shows great depth of fruit and density. Black cherries and spice are supported by integrated tannins which lead to a delightfully long finish."
5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Richly fruited and perfumed, the seductively fragrant bouquet shows blackberry, dark plum, cocoa, olive and roasted hazelnut characters with spicy nuances. It’s concentrated and opulent on the palate, while remaining harmonious and structured, finishing impressively long and gratifying. At its best: now to 2032."
93+/100 Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, November 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Grown on vineyards planted 25 years ago in the northern Barossa.Rich red wine grown in bare hard soil. This is an excellent example of a typical Barossa red. It has wealth and generosity, chains of tannin, vanillin characters, ground coffee. It feels big, real, warm and good. Mouthfilling. Acidity dangles fractionally, the only quibble to an all-round impressive package."

93-95/100 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, September 2018 (2016 Vintage)
"Stereotypical Oz Shiraz to some extent, the 2016 William Randell Shiraz is big, ripe and heavily accented by American oak. Cedar and vanilla notes blend with rich, plummy fruit, those sweet notes brought together and balanced by savoury dry tannins. It's a big-ass steak wine, one that will be appreciated by consumers at steakhouses around the world."
95/100 Bob Campbell MW (2016 Vintage)
"Dense, inky red colour, with a Christmas cake medley of dried fruit and nut flavours together with liquorice, chocolate/mocha and vanilla characters. A power-packed wine with impressive ageing potential."
