Generally you do not get much for these dollars when it comes to Sauvignon Blanc but this price on this great drinking Savvy from Waipara turns that on its head. Coming from very low yielding vines on the Fraher Vineyard this has fantastic intensity and texture along with the fruit weight to carry its bright and juicy acidity. The Crater Rim Sauvignon Blanc has proven ageing ability but at this price it makes for the perfect quaffer albeit better than most at this price.
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"A lovely alternative-style offering fruit richness as well as savoury complexity; the beautifully lifted bouquet shows baked apple, nectarine, lemon peel, flint and oatmeal characters, followed by a concentrated palate that is wonderfully weighted and generously textured. The wine offers terrific power and plush mouthfeel, brilliantly structured by bright acidity. At its best: now to 2021."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"Retasted in 2019, the partly barrel-fermented 2017 vintage is still fresh and lively, with a bright, light, yellow/green hue and fragrant tropical-fruit aromas and flavours. Mouthfilling, with good richness, balanced acidity and a subtle seasoning of oak, it's drinking well now."
