Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"Pale garnet with light ruby core. Bright aromatics of fresh cherries, raspberries, wood spices and tobacco. With time, subtle notes of forest undergrowth, floral perfumes and worn leather are revealed. Light fruit sweetness, fine silky tannin and restrained volume allow savoury elements to splice evenly into the red berry fruit core and crunchy acidity. This wine was crafted in vineyard & winery from a wild and unpredictable season, including a spike of warm temperatures prior to harvest – resulting in a warm hearted wine, poised in perfect tension."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, January 2021 (2018 Vintage)
"It’s easy to miss the complexity in the bouquet – aromas of plum and cherry, strawberry and baking spices, stony mineral and completeness. On the palate – a complete wine – fresh, bright, youthful, tense, textured and fruity. Flavours mirror the nose accentuated with fine, firm chalky tannins, medium+ acidity and a velvet texture throughout. Well made and ready to enjoy from today and through 2026."

5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"The wine is sweetly fruited and inviting on the nose showing ripe strawberry, dark cherry, cake spice and vanilla oak characters. It is equally satisfying on the palate with excellent weight and intensity, wonderfully complemented by silky texture and chalky tannins. Beautifully styled and structured with a lengthy expansive finish. At its best: now to 2024."
93/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, July 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Juicy blackcurrant, pomegranate and cranberry, five spice, and a sort of fragrant wet garden sort of smell. Medium bodied, perfumed and gently earthy, juicy acidity and flavour, fine grained tannin, sappy and long fresh finish, redcurrant and spice in the aftertaste. Has energy and personality. Excellent."
Joelle Thomson, July 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Hand harvested grapes and fermentation in small vats are the story of this outstanding Pinot Noir from the tricky cool weather of the 2017 vintage. Not that you’d know it was a tough year because this wine walks a tasty tightrope of beautifully balanced red fruit flavours with refreshing high acidity, a full body and a long, succulent finish. The grapes were grown on a terraced vineyard on the Glasnevin Gravels in North Canterbury. The winemaker is Paul Goodege. This is a stunning North Canterbury Pinot Noir."
93/100 Wine Enthusiast & Editors' Choice (2017 Vintage)
"This is a delightfully open and expressive wine you could smell all day. From the glass billow fresh picked cherries, pomegranate seeds, ground white pepper and cinnamon bark. In the mouth the fruit is lively and mouthwatering, its wings pinned by fine, spicy tannins. Light to medium in weight, it closes long and juicy-fruited. A deliciously nuanced drop from an exciting South Island region that's crying out for roast duck."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"Already open and expressive, the 2017 vintage was hand-picked and given 'judicious' wood handling (one year in barrels, 5 per cent new). Full, bright ruby, it is mouthfilling, supple and savoury, with cherry, plum, spice and nut flavours, showing very good complexity and harmony. Best drinking 2021+."
