Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"The De Boüard de Laforest family at Angélus has been dedicated to the production of great wines for eight generations. Recently, under the impetus of Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, the President of Angélus, the estate created a new wine called Tempo d’Angélus.
This new addition to the range of wines of Château Angélus, made under the Bordeaux appellation, offers a more streamlined version of its illustrious elders -Angélus, Carillon d’Angélus and N°3 d’Angélus, with which it shares the same depth and complexity while being at the same time more approachable young.
The aim of Tempo d’Angélus is to demystify the approach to great wines, in offering a top quality wine, produced from the great Angélus terroirs and made with the expertise of its teams, at the most affordable price levels. It has been created to provide a window that opens out onto the world of grands crus, which will allow demanding wine enthusiasts to enjoy a wine that is structured, complex and delicious to drink, without having to wait 15 or 20 years, as they often have to for our grands crus.
The wine’s aspect is clear and dark. The nose bursts with fresh red berry fruit aromas, tiny berries and cherries, enhanced by subtle notes of oak. A sensation of verticality comes to the fore on the palate with very firm pHs which give the wine great freshness and pure fruit character. The finish is lingering with subtle notes of roasted coffee beans and oak coming through."

93/100 JamesSuckling.com, February 2022 (2019 Vintage)
"A delicious, savoury red with blackcurrant, chocolate and cedar aromas and flavours. It’s medium-bodied with fine, round tannins. Fresh and bright. It opens at the end and becomes chewy and intense. Give this two or three years to soften, but it’s already focused. Try after 2023."
91/100 Decanter, January 2021 (2019 Vintage)
"Rustic nose, a hint of perfume, but focusses on vanilla, clove and liquorice. Lovely texture in the mouth with chewy tannins around deep, soft and smooth red fruits, cooling menthol and spiced wood notes at the back. Precise winemaking on show, all quite detailed and in balance. 40% new oak, the rest aged in steel tanks. 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc."
