A new label (replaces the Wanaka Road). This is what Duncan calls his “house-style”. Mount Edward Pinot Noirs tend to be more in the savoury spectrum underlying the Central Otago cherry/mulberry fruits. A barrel selection from over the various sites. Medium weighted and balanced. This is a supple, ‘easy’ Pinot Noir made to enjoy as a younger wine.

4 Stars & 18.0/20 Raymond Chan, October 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Even ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is well-proportioned with good depth of savoury dark-red cherry and berry fruits melded with dark herbs and subtle complexing earthy elements. This has good intensity and layers of interest. Medium-full bodied, the palate has sweet and luscious fruit, with flavours of savoury dark-red cherry and berryfruit with a complex layering of dark herbs and soft earthy notes. The fruit is up-front, showing immediate depth and intensity and is underlined by fine-grained tannin extract with integrated acidity. The flavours carry along a positive line, leading to a lingering finish of red fruits and herbs. This is a sweet and juicy dark cherry and berry fruited Pinot Noir with complex herb notes, intensity and depth, all underlined by fine tannin extract. Match with wild duck and pork, and game dishes over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the ‘Muirkirk’, ‘Morrison’ and the Montero ‘Pisa Terrace’ vineyard, indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc. with 5% w/ole bunches, the wine aged 10 months in 15% new oak. Certified BioGro organic."

4 ½ Stars Yvonne Lorkin, September 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Nursed from the vineyard into the bottle by the talented twosome of Duncan Forsyth and Anna Riederer, this pinot noir is beautifully rich and bursting with hedgerow fruits, 5-spice, sandalwood and cocoa and tree bark. Complex and mouthfilling, it’s like a leather-laden overload of earthiness and wild cherries."

4 Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"Certified organic, the 2016 vintage is bright ruby, with a fragrant, savoury, slightly herbal bouquet. Showing good complexity, it is mouthfilling and fairly supple, with generous cherry, plum and spice flavours, a hint of herbs, and plenty of current appeal. Best drinking 2020."
