Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"All winemakers go a bit nuts about Pinot Noir because it is challenging to grow and make and very unforgiving of mistakes. We love the flavour spectrum of Marlborough Pinot Noir from red fruits to black and from complex savoury notes to spice and back again. It has an ability to give us vibrant fruit on the palate combined with ripe supple, silky tannins and great structure and length. This wine is a blend of eight different clones and as the vines mature we are seeing an increasing depth and complexity in the resultant wines."

"Famous for their exquisite aromatic whites, Anna and Jason Flowerday have fashioned this gorgeous pinot from grapes grown on their estate vineyard in Renwick combined with the ones from Rawiri vineyard in the Omaka district. The striking bouquet shows dark cherry, smoked game, floral and almond characters with hints of truffle and mixed spice. The palate is concentrated and powerful, within the elegant frame of the variety, exhibiting awesome fruit purity together with seductive savoury nuances, brilliantly framed by loads of polished tannins. This is impressively complex and multi-layered, and seemingly complicated with so many elements in play, yet the wine flows seamlessly through the palate offering one gratifying harmonious voice. This is top notch. At its best: 2018 to 2025."
96/100 Cameron Douglas MS, September 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Immediately complex and enticing bouquet with aromas of spices, ripe fruits, layers of minerality and oak; wild flowers and wild red fruits show off and signal he natural ferment and environment input. On the palate – dry, fruity, savoury and textured with flavours that reflect the nose; ripe and vibrant tannins add a chalky texture; youthful and complex, great potential for ageing; long and engaging finish. Superbly crafted wine."

"Plenty of sweetly fragrant spices and gentle herbal notes. Sappy and fresh with some attractive rose and violet-like florals. The palate has terrific balance where fleshy fruit is precisely contained in fine yet powerful tannins. This has length and build and just flows. Good wine."
94/100 Jamie Goode, December 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Half home block, half from a vineyard on hillsides in the Omaka Valley. This has lovely freshness to the sweet cherry and plum fruit. Good structure with nice fine-grained tannins under the supple, slightly savoury, silky red fruit character. This has finesse and balance, and it’s really impressive."
5 Stars & 19.0-/20 (95) Raymond Chan, June 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Darkish ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is very elegant with a beautiful array of red floral fragrances that unfold to provide remarkable volume. The nose has a finely concentrated core of dark raspberry and dark-red cherry fruit entwined with subtle herb and mineral nuances, and suggestions of nutty oak. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned with rounded but intensely packed heart of dark raspberry and cherry fruit melded with red florals and subtle herb and mineral nuances. The fruit is rich and sweet, and flows seamlessly along a silky, fine-grained line, the integrated acidity lending energy and drive. The wine carries to an elegant, succulently sweet, sustained finish of dark red fruits and florals. This is a refined and beautifully fragrant Pinot Noir with rich dark-red berry fruits on a silky, seamless palate with fine, flowery tannins. Match with tuna, salmon, poultry and pork over the next 5-6+ years. Fruit from the TWR ‘Home Block’ (8 clones) and the ‘Rawiri’ vineyard in the Omaka Valley (4 clones), all hand-picked and hand-sorted, generally destemmed and fermented with a small portion of whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 14 days on skins post ferment and aged 11 months in 30% new French oak. 571 cases made."
