Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"This wine is a classic expression of Hawkes Bay Chardonnay from a fantastic vintage.  The aromatic nose is reminiscent of citrus blossom and stone fruit supported by notes of crème brulee and grilled nuts. The palate is concentrated and complex with citrus fruit notes being balanced by richness derived from aging on the yeast lees.  As a wine from a top Hawkes Bay vintage, one would expect excellent focus and concentration on the palate, which then leads to a long and sustained finish. "

4 1/2 Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"The 2016 vintage is an estate-grown wine, hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak hogsheads. A very elegant, youthful wine, it's full-bodied, with concentrated, grapefruit-like flavours, smoky, biscuity notes adding complexity, and excellent depth and harmony. Best drinking 2019+."

4 Stars Cuisine Chardonnay Tasting, August 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Made by the man (Richard Painter) who also crafted our top wine, this is a delightfully intense expression. Flinty finesse and incisive acidity has it running a tight line through to a lengthy finish. A light, fresh style that would marry well with any seafood."

Sue Courtney,, February 2018 (2016 Vintage)
"The bouquet of this citrine-hued wine is reminiscent of lightly toasted hazelnuts and stonefruit with just a hint of pineapple, and it’s smooth, creamy and nutty in the palate with lifted lemony leesy flavours that sign off with malty savoury oak that’s underlined with a lingering and very pleasing bright pineapple /peach / mandarin flourish."
