Double Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2020
Summerhouse Pinot Gris has been a consistent Gold Medal winning wine over the last few vintages and has also picked up a trophy here and there. It looks like the 2020 is doing it again with a fresh Double Gold Medal at the New Zealand International Wine Show. It's wonderfully fragrant giving it instant appeal and its bright fruit, smooth and succulent texture makes for fantastic drinking.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Our 2020 Pinot Gris has aromas of Turkish delight, fresh roses, honey suckle, and ripe stone fruit. Tropical fruit and nectarine flavours lead into rich textural complexities and a ginger bread spice. The wine finishes with a luscious and lingering acidity."
91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2020 (2020 Vintage)
"Offering elegantly lifted aromas of fresh pear, rockmelon and gala apple with a lovely floral overtone, it’s juicy and flavoursome on the palate with bright fruit intensity and rounded mouthfeel. Upfront and very tasty. At its best: now to 2022."
90/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2020 (2020 Vintage)
"Juicy, fleshy, varietal and distinctive bouquet with aromas of brown pears and apples, moments of quince, white fleshed orchard fruits and some floral mineral layers. On the palate – just dry with a whisper of sweetness, very fruity with a core of flavours that mirror the nose, medium+ acidity pushed along a little with a nudge of alcohol. Balanced and well made, ready to enjoy from today and through 2022."
