Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Single vineyard barrel aged Chardonnay from the Alluvialle soils of Hawkes Bay. Hand selected fruit with 12 months maturation in new and one year old French oak, the wine is beautifully textured, full bodied with butterscotch and spicy oak flavours. Displaying mineral tones from the Terrior, this wine has a delightful and very long finish."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"It's gorgeously expressed on the nose showing apricot, vanilla pod, cedar and brioche characters. The palate displays excellent concentration and expansive mouthfeel, wonderfully complemented by refined texture and seductive oak infusion. Sophisticated and super long on the finish. At its best: now to 2026."
94/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, May 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Ripe, weighty chardonnay with peach, tree fruit, struck flint, toast, baguette crust and spicy oak flavours. An attractive wine with a pleasingly silken texture and surprisingly lengthy finish. Good value at this price."
93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, May 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Aromas of French oak and yellow fleshed stone fruits, grapefruit peel and raw sugar, blonde tobacco and warm crushed stones. On the palate – dry, full-bodied and tasty with flavours of orchard fruits and oak, medium + acidity and a noticeable bite of wood. Salivating and lightly saline with fine tannins, an overall chalk-like texture and a lengthy finish. Well made, youthful and still on its journey to full integration and harmony. Best drinking from 2021 through 2025+."
