It's no secret that Spy Valley produce an outstanding Sauvignon Blanc every year and the 2020 is again a mighty effort. Many of the Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs from the 2020 vintage are looking absolutely stunning with fantastic fruit weight and intensity along with a refreshingly juicy mineral element. Zippiness at its best and that perfectly describes the Spy Valley 2020 Sauvignon Blanc along with loads of passionfruit and citrus.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Enticing aromas of grapefruit, feijoa, bell pepper and a hint of orange zest. The palate is mouth filling and vibrant with flavours of citrus, green herbs and tropical fruits. The mid palate is rich and textured while retaining fine acidity and elegance overall. 2020 has the ripeness and structure to promote in ageing ability. Fruit will be at its most vibrant in the first 2 years but expect this vintage to retain its freshness until at least 2025. The palate richness and complex characters should become more apparent as cellaring progresses."

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"It’s intensely aromatic on the nose showing passionfruit, feijoa, Granny Smith apple and lemon peel characters. The palate delivers excellent fruit power and persistency backed by refreshing acidity, making it delectable and highly enjoyable. At its best: now 2022."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"Typically a good buy. The vigorous 2019 vintage was grown (partly in estate vineyards) in the Waihopai and Wairau valleys, and made in a dry style (2.9 grams/litre of residual sugar). Light lemon/green, it is a fresh and lively wine, full of youthful impact, with excellent depth of tropical-fruit and herbaceous flavours, and a crisp, tightly structured finish. Best drinking 2021+."
