Spy Valley is consistently one of the best Gewürztraminer producers around.
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Intensely perfumed with hints of lychee and ginger. Enticing floral spice notes through the mid palate. The wine finishes with a brightness and persistence of flavour.
Our Gewurtztraminer was harvested over 2 separate days – the latter pick of the Colmar clone required a longer hang time to reach the point at which it was bursting with flavour. Both parcels were left in the press for approx. 6 hours to soak up the flavour from the skins before being gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks.
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2022 Vintage)
"Estate-grown in the Johnson Vineyard, in the Waihopai Valley, the strongly varietal 2022 vintage was fermented and lees-aged in tanks. Bright, light lemon/green, with a fragrant, spicy bouquet, it is mouthfilling, with good concentration of ripe, peachy, spicy flavours, a hint of ginger, a sliver of sweetness and a fresh, finely balanced finish."

90/100 Cameron Douglas MS, January 2021 (2020 Vintage)
"Floral and very fruity, plenty of spice and very fruit centric. Fresh, bright, pungent, classic and enticing bouquet. A delicate layer of spice and dried herb begin the palate story followed by flavours of fresh whites fleshed fruits, Asian pears and tropical fruits. Warm with med+ alcohol, med+ – ish acidity. Balanced, fresh and ready. Best now and through 2022."
