Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"Award winning winemaker Grant Taylor has created the McQueen Pinot Noir. The name denotes the contrasting elements of tradition & the unconventional – opulent as Hollywood’s Royale & delicate as London’s lavish Fashionista. A long silky textured mouth feel, with rich chocolate & tasty earth aromas supported by regally chic spice. Ripe plum & lush black cherry reveal the ‘Taylor’ made tannin structure with flawless complexity. The perfect ensemble for any occasion… the McQueen is the King of Cool.

A shimmering garnet hue with exciting fruit & spice aromas ranging from cherry & boysenberry to wild thyme & mulberry with underlying savoury notes of cedar & mushroom. The palate is harmoniously layered with rich red fruit, intriguing spice, silky fine tannins & electrifying acidity. Sophisticated indulgence; power & grace – once again the McQueen Pinot showcases the best of three highly distinctive Central Otago sub-regions."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"The powerful 2016 vintage is deeply coloured, weighty and concentrated. It has dense, ripe plum and spice flavours, a hint of liquorice, nutty, savoury notes adding complexity, and good tannin support. A youthful, very age-worthy red, it should be at its best 2020+."

5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, February 2018 (2016 Vintage)
"Sweetly fruited and seductively savoury at the same time, this gorgeous pinot shows dark cherry, plum, cedar, cocoa and warm spice aromas on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that is plush and fleshy. The wine offers awesome fruit weight and roundness, wonderfully enhanced by silky texture and loads of polished tannins. At its best: now to 2022."

5 Stars & 18.5/20 Raymond Chan, February 2018 (2016 Vintage)
"Full, dark ruby-red colour, a little paler on the rim. The nose is firmly concentrated with a well-packed heart of ripe, dark-red berry and plum fruit aromas entwined with complexing dark herbal elements, a little earthiness and nutty oak, unfolding dark-red florals. This shows good volume with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and well-concentrated flavours of ripe, dark-red berry and plum fruit flavours melded with dark herbs, hints of spice and liquorice, earthy and nutty nuances adding detail and interest. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin extraction providing structure and grip, with balanced acid freshness. The palate has good drive and carries to a long and sustained finish of berryfruit and herbs. This is a rich and finely concentrated Pinot Noir with dark-red berry and plum fruit and herbal detail on a grainy-textured palate with drive and length. Match with lamb, beef and venison dishes, and game meat over the next 6+ years. Fruit from Bendigo, Gibbston and Bannockburn fermented with 25% whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 28% new French oak."
