Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Dry in style, this elegant wine has plush yellow stonefruits, minerals & a lovely spicy tangerine peel finish. Deliciously textured & beautifully balanced with a touch of pear drop leading to a continuous pure finish. Distinctive & eclectic, the King of full-lipped swagger."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2020 (2020 Vintage)
"This is refined and gorgeously elegant, showing fresh pear, fig, lemon peel and white floral notes on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that's brilliantly focused and finely textured. It's superbly structured and persistent. At its best: now to 2025."
5 Stars & 18.5/20 (93) Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, September 2020 (2020 Vintage)
"Bright, straw-yellow with some depth, slightly watery clear on the rim. The bouquet is elegantly full, fragrant aromas of Nashi pear, quince, entwined with mouthwatering minerals and delicate white florals. Medium-bodied, dry-ish to taste, Nashi pear, quince and apple skins form a good core. Fragrant white florals unfolding, along with spices and mouthwatering minerals lingers to a satisfying dry finish. Fine-textured phenolic added to the slightly unctuous palate provided breath and body. Fresh acidity contributed good energy and balance, drive the wine to a lingering textural finish. This is an elegantly full-flavoured Pinot Gris with good acid balance and a textural mouthfeel. Match with pulled pork and smoked duck breast over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Wairau and Awetere Valley. 13% alc. Vegan friendly."
