Winery notes (2018 Vintage) "The 2018 Seifried Nelson Gewürztraminer has all the varietal characteristics of Gewürztraminer without overloading your senses. Floral notes on the nose give way to juicy peach on the palate. The palate had moderate acidity, giving a nicely rounded lingering generosity.
Gewürztraminer is an early ripening variety with an aromatic, fragrant bouquet. It is naturally a low yielding vine which can produce wonderful concentration and flavour. After harvest the grapes were de-stemmed and left for a brief period of skin contact before pressing. The clear juice was inoculated with a pure yeast strain and then a cool, temperature-controlled fermentation began. After fermentation the wine had a period on yeast lees before it was racked, clarified and stabilised prior to bottling in August 2018."
93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2018 (2018 Vintage) "Lovely bouquet with a core of spicy white fleshed fruit, quince and baked pineapple. Fleshy and lush on the palate with a core of fruit and intensity, medium acidity, lovely complexity and lengthy finish. Delicious, fragrant and lengthy. Drink now and through 2022."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit,August 2018 (2018 Vintage) "A gorgeous rendition of the variety; the elegantly perfumed bouquet shows mango, rockmelon, Turkish Delight, warm spice and floral characters. The palate is equally delightful, displaying excellent fruit weight and intensity, brilliantly complemented by rounded mouthfeel and refreshing acidity. At its best: now to 2022."
Michael Cooper (2018 Vintage) "Typically a floral, well-spiced wine, offering excellent value. The 2018 vintage is a medium style (15 grams/litre of residual sugar). Bright, light lemon/green, it is a highly perfumed, medium-bodied wine, with citrusy, peachy flavours, hints of pears and spices, gentle sweetness and lots of drink-young appeal; best drinking mid-2019+."
