Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Grüner Veltliner, is the most widely planted white grape variety in Austria which is Hermann Seifried’s homeland. We were thrilled to finally be able to grow Grüner Veltliner here in New Zealand after it had passed through the long quarantine process. In 2008 we chose our Brightwater Vineyard to plant a small area of these very special vines. More recently, we have established Grüner Veltliner vines in our Edens Road vineyard.
2021 was another great season in the Nelson region, albeit very light yielding. The 2021 Seifried Nelson Grüner Veltliner is ripe and beautifully scented with tree ripened fig notes, white peach and hints of citrus blossoms. The palate is dry and generous with layers of soft succulent fruit, leaving a long lingering finish."
4 ½ Stars & 91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2021 (2021 Vintage)
"It's elegant and youthfully expressed with white flesh peach, crunchy apple, fig and lemon zest aromas. The palate delivers fine focus and juicy fruit flavours, well supported by silky texture and vibrant acidity, finishing long and delightfully crisp-dry. At its best: now to 2025."
4 Stars Cuisine NZ Other Whites Tasting, February 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Ripe aromas of yellow peach and thiol influence with spicy white pepper and citrus on the nose. The palate has lovely drinkability with an intriguing smoky character and lean acid that gives the wine focus and drive."
