Tenuta Giorgio was founded in 1982, located in Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the south-eastern part of Montalcino in a unique position, at 400 metres above sea level on the top of a ridge. The vines cover 26 hectares and there are 26 hectares of olive groves. The winery is located near Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the municipality of Montalcino, not far from the Sant’Antimo abbey. The winery has been part of the ColleMassari Group since 2016.

"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Ugolforte is a dark beauty, impressing with its youthful poise but also its potential. Mint leaf and a dusting of cedar give way to crushed stone, wild strawberry and hints of flowery undergrowth. There are depths of velvety textures and polished red/black fruits, which create a sense of elegance; yet you can feel that there are layers here which are currently unseen. A complex web of fine tannins and minerals penetrate deeply, just as brisk acids and remnants of tart woodland berries fight to remain prevalent; yet all that remains is a hint of licorice. Wow. Drink 2024 -2036."

"Just after the 2016 harvest, the ColleMassari Group’s Claudio Tipa purchased the San Giorgio property and immediately started the conversion to organic viticulture. Ageing has also been adjusted – this no longer sees any new barriques and instead matures entirely in 30hL Slavonian oak casks. It shows wonderful restraint with subtle scents of lavender, lilac and mint blossom. Black cherry and earth appear on the palate, which is firm and admirably uncompromising in its constitution. A robust and concentrated yet buoyant Brunello. Drink 2024 – 2038."

"From a 20- to 25-year-old vineyard at between 250 and 400 m above sea level in Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Spontaneous fermentation in tronconic oak cask, aged for 42 months in 30-hl Slavonian oak casks. Lustrous ruby. Very youthful and tight yet clearly concentrated on the nose and with the merest hint of oak. Succulent and deep on the palate and with an imposing tannic structure that is quite demanding right now. Clearly built to age, which it needs. Drink 2024 – 2038."
