Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"This vineyard site has proved to be the building block for some of Saint Clair’s finest wines. This is the vineyard where Saint Clair Family Estate first discovered the fruit to make their flagship Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc.
The fruit was sourced from a single vineyard owned by the Sowman family on the fertile, free-draining soils of the lower Wairau Valley. The fruit was carefully monitored during ripening and harvested in the cool of the evening at maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness.
Aromatic white currant, capsicum and fragrant tropical fruit with a hint of thyme. Luscious ripe blackcurrant and lime flavours. The palate is steely and mineral with a chalky oyster shell texture. It is pure and focused with a long lingering finish."
"Vibrant and super tasty with awesome aromas and flamboyant flavours of passionfruit, melon, gooseberry and grapefruit. A touch of crushed dill and a crisp flinty undercurrent. Quenching and salivating – the epitome of Marlborough sauv."
5 Stars & Number 1 Cuisine Sauvignon Blanc Tasting, December 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"This single-vineyard wine is the total package – it has lift and power on the nose, aromas of blackcurrant leaf and thyme with tropical opulence and incredible citrus oozing forth. In addition and some might consider even more importantly, it has palate weight and length to go with it. Remarkable mineral crunch and juiciness with everlasting length and vibrancy. A sauvignon to rule them all by unanimous agreement."
